Match Report:

Batting first South Cerney struggled to get away to any start with tight bowling from both Martin Sollis and Mark Greener. The first 4 overs of the day being maidens. After 10 overs the score had reached 9. Sollis taking a wicket in his fourth and fifth over before giving way to Willard who continued in the same vein, also bowling 2 maidens and taking 2 wickets in his first 4 overs. Webster, Wheeler and Tenty pulled the South Cerney innings together with some good shots all around the wicket. The total of 129 did not look enough.

Poulton’s batting started with some positive batting from Nigel Voaden and Martin Sollis. Voaden hitting 2 fours and one six in his 20. Sollis hitting just 3 fours in his 33. Johnny Gardiner continued by hitting 2 fours and one six in his 21. Poulton raced to 67 runs off just 13 overs, but after these 3 wickets had fallen Poulton’s batting crumbled with a further 4 wickets falling, Smith clean bowling both Voaden and Sollis and Chivers bowling Gardiner, Dytor and Shaw. However this just brought Colt Jack Blades to the crease and Jack belied his tender years by calmly hitting 4 fours in his 22 not out to steer Poulton home with 3 wickets to spare.
